Entertainment in Harrison

In case you were wondering, Steel Works is just 18 minutes away from New York City. But contrary to popular belief, Manhattan is not the be-all, end-all of entertainment, and Harrison has plenty of local gems that brighten nights and weekends for those residing west of the Hudson. here are some of our favorite local entertainment gems.

Red Bull Arena | 600 Cape May Street, #1, Harrison, NJ 07029
It’s the home of Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls and the host of a variety of soccer matches throughout the year, but Red Bull Arena has also recently become a concert destination. The arena is much smaller than typical stadiums (around 22,000 for soccer matches and 25,000 for concerts), so there really isn’t a bad seat in the house. World-class athletes and musicians are right up the block.

Prudential Center | 25 Lafayette Street, Newark, NJ 07102
In case hockey is more your speed, Prudential Center, the base for the New Jersey Devils, is also nearby. The Seton Hall men’s and women’s basketball teams and the New York Titans of the National Lacrosse League also play home games at this arena, which is nicknamed “The Rock.” Their concert list is impressive, too. In the next few months, The Rock is hosting Garth Brooks, Lana Del Rey, Katy Perry, Lorde, Pink, and, yes, even Barry Manilow.

Newark Symphony Hall | 1020 Broad Street, Newark, NJ 07102
Without a doubt one of the most historic and cultural sites in the state, Newark Symphony Hall has been functioning in one capacity or another for nearly a century. During that century, the roster of performers has included the Temptations, Patti LaBelle, Richard Pryor, Gladys Knight, Teddy Pendergrass, and numerous other legends. It’s a stunning venue, and the lineup is consistently amazing.

New Jersey Performing Arts Center | 1 Center Street, Newark, NJ 07102
Commonly referred to as “NJPAC,” this arts center holds an array of art classes and hosts everyone from rock band King Crimson to Chef Alton Brown and trumpeter Chris Botti. Between the trifecta of NJPAC, Newark Symphony Hall, and The Rock, it’s highly likely your favorite artist, musician, writer, or personality will be stopping by right in the neighborhood at some point.
